One of the most gripping and extraordinary moments in recent Haramain history occurred 27 years ago on 15 Dhu al Qadah 1418 (13 March 1998).
In the year 1998, Imam of Masjid Al Nabawi, Sheikh Ali ibn Abdul Rahman Hudhaify publicly exposed the Rafidha and rebuked the former President of Iran Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani from atop the Minbar of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) whilst Rafsanjani was in attendance in the crowd. He was suspended from his duties for 2 years.
Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani visited Saudi Arabia on a diplomatic mission to strengthen the relationship between the two countries becoming the first and only Iranian President to visit Makkah and Madinah.
