Synopsis
Society is greatly in need of rectification — be it the Islamic or non-Islamic societies. The Islamic society is in great need of following an upright path and employing practical steps, ways and means, through which it will be rectified and adhering to the path that was followed by the best of this Ummah—the friend of The Most Merciful and the most righteous amongst His slaves, Muhammad sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam).
Islamic societies will be rectified by the leader, as established by our Prophet Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) and the Rightly Guided Khulafaa: Abu-Bakr As-Siddeeq, Umar Al-Faarooq, Uthmaan Dhun Roorayn, Ali Al-Murtadaa Abul Hasan and the (rest) of the companions alongside them (may Allaah be pleased with all of them and include us amongst those who follow them in righteousness).

People of knowledge and Eemaan, all agree that: ”The latter part of this Muslim nation will not be rectified except by way of that which rectified its earlier part,” i.e. adherence to the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His noble Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) till the Day of Judgement. And that is:

(a) To give close attention to the Noble Qur’aan and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah.
(b) Acquiring, understanding and disseminating knowledge of both amongst people with clear sightedness.
(c) Clarifying rulings of creed and what the Islamic society is obligated to accept, and clarifying those it is obliged to avoid.
(d) Clarifying the limits imposed by Allah and His Messenger (the unlawful affairs, which Allaah has forbidden, through which sins are committed, and acts of worship and rulings of the religion).

The first affair carried out by the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam), and the first foundation he established was Tawheed, the call to single out Allaah in worship and to worship Him (The Most High) alone. This is the first fundamental he spoke about, proclaimed and adhered to.
