And this is the explanation of ‘Laa hawla wa laa quwwata illaa billaah’ (There is no change and no power except with Allaah’s aid). We say: there is no manoeuvring for anyone, and no movement for anyone, and no moving away from disobedience to Allaah – except with the aid of Allaah; and there is no power for anyone to establish obedience to Allaah, and to remain firm upon it,except by Allaah’s tawfeeq (His granting successful attainment of that).
